Enugu, Nigeria | 14 October 2026
The Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), Enugu State Chapter, joins poultry farmers, egg producers, nutrition advocates and communities across the world to celebrate World Egg Day 2026, observed on Friday, 9 October.
This year's celebration marks the 30th anniversary of World Egg Day and highlights the theme, “Protein that Powers and Protects.” The theme recognises the important role eggs play in providing high-quality protein and essential nutrients that support health and wellbeing.
Eggs are a valuable, accessible and versatile food that can contribute to healthy diets for people of different ages. They provide high-quality protein and essential nutrients that support the body's growth, maintenance and overall wellbeing.
From family breakfasts to school meals and everyday household cooking, eggs remain a practical nutritional choice and an important part of food and nutrition security.
As we celebrate World Egg Day, we encourage households, institutions and communities to appreciate the nutritional value of eggs and explore ways to include them in balanced diets.
Beyond their nutritional benefits, eggs represent the dedication, enterprise and hard work of poultry farmers and everyone involved in the egg value chain.
From feed suppliers and farm workers to egg distributors, retailers and food businesses, the poultry industry contributes to employment, entrepreneurship and the availability of nutritious food.
PAN Enugu recognises the contributions of poultry farmers and industry stakeholders in strengthening food production, supporting livelihoods and meeting the growing demand for animal-source protein.
World Egg Day provides an opportunity to renew our commitment to a stronger and more sustainable poultry industry in Enugu State.
We encourage consumers to support locally produced eggs, poultry farmers to continue improving production and food safety practices, and stakeholders to work together to address challenges affecting the industry.
By promoting egg consumption, supporting local producers and raising awareness of the nutritional value of eggs, we can contribute to healthier communities and a more resilient agricultural economy.
Happy World Egg Day 2026!
